Have you ever cleaned carpet and have stains appear that were not there before? Or stains that you thought you removed wicked back up to the surface? Or maybe it was humid outside and it just took forever for the carpet to dry. These are common problems associated with slow drying of carpet after cleaning, and if you can't get the carpet to dry quickly, you may run into trouble. The following are tips to help you shorten the drying time after cleaning carpet: 1. When cleaning carpet using the hot water extraction method, make additional vacuum-only passes over the area. 2. After hot water extraction carpet cleaning, go over the area with a dry cotton or microfiber bonnet. The bonnet will absorb additional moisture from the carpet. 3. Set up carpet fans or air movers after cleaning an area. 4. Turn on ceiling fans and exhaust fans. 5. Use a dehumidifier to take moisture out of the air. 6. If the building is sealed, turn on air conditioning in the summer time or heat in the winter time to get the air moving. 7. Alternate hot water extraction cleaning with a low moisture system such as encapsulation cleaning. 8. Consider upgrading your carpet machine to a more powerful machine with greater vacuum capability.
